Use case: How the SPAR Austria Group relies on the latest technology Innovative price labeling with
software from DocuMatrix
While walking through the supermarket, you’ve probably noticed one or two price labels. In fact, behind the printing of those labels is complex software developed by DocuMatrix. Specifically, we are talking about docPIPE and docTYPE, which the SPAR Austria Group, and among them the sports retailer Hervis, which is part of the group, has been using since 2018. The successful collaboration has already been proven in several Central European countries where the SPAR Austria Group operates as a grocer or sports retailer.
A look at the facts makes the enormous scope of the project clear, as countless individual labels are created on average per day. By integrating DocuMatrix software, store employees are able to increase productivity, not least because price changes can be adjusted efficiently. What used to take hours of work is now done in the blink of an eye.
Technology in the background, added value in the foreground
Although the practical implementation of price adjustments is child’s play, there is a complicated system behind it, which is managed by DocuMatrix. Once the SPAR printing system sends the data to DocuMatrix, the label is carefully created by docPIPE in combination with docTYPE. The finished label is then sent to any SPAR printer for printing. Just how flexible the system is is confirmed, among other things, by the dynamic format adjustments. For example, the solution is not only designed for standard price labels, but SPAR also deliberately uses it for advertising posters, whereby A3 and A4 formats can be generated.
The fast printing process not only simplifies the day-to-day work of employees, but also contributes to quality assurance at the same time. In this way, errors can be specifically avoided and resources saved. Even if it is not immediately obvious to customers in the stores, they also benefit significantly from the solution. They can always rely on the price display, as price changes and promotions are always up to date.
Further progress in the near future
As an innovative company, the SPAR Austria Group wants to generate further benefits by planning to exploit the potential of DocuMatrix solutions even further. The old printing system has proven itself for years, but it is soon to be holistically replaced by docPIPE. This will enable further acceleration of business processes and increased quality assurance.
